When I premiered this dance work in 2017, one critic described it, and possibly me, as ‘bonkers’.
Back in 2017, Donald J Trump had just been sworn into the White House, fake news was new, and conspiracy theory was confined to the dark edges of the internet.
All that has spectacularly changed, and this work seems all the more prescient and timely.
For one week, to commemorate the US elections, K2CO are offering MK ULTRA the full show, shot live at The Southbank for free online.
We premiere 7pm Friday 8th November.
MK ULTRA FULL SHOW BY ROSIE KAY
MK Ultra is an hour long dance show interspersed with doc-commentary by acclaimed director Adam Curtis. Exploring pop stars, conspiracy theory and CIA funded brainwashing, this work is a fantasia mash up of dance styles, mysterious symbolism and trippy visual.
**** “a postmodern fantasia... MK Ultra asks important questions about the real and the fake, and whether, for a new generation, they’ve become one” The Observer
**** “Extraordinary... a super-saturated sensory feast of movement, sound and imagery.” Financial Times
“exploring the myth of a shadowy cult attempting world domination through mass brainwashing… an exceptionally stylish production.” The Guardian
“They are fierce movers, performing their routines and rituals dressed in catsuits covered with mystical imagery, like a rave version of the Masons.” Evening Standard
“a masterpiece....totally energising on every level. Catch it if you can.” Seeingdance
