ADULT FEMALE DANCER

★★★★ “I wondered if this was what it felt like to see Isadora Duncan. A woman, strong and free, full of sadness and hurt, but also of power, defining her life in dance.” The Observer, Sarah Crompton

★★★★ “Kay imparts her ever-physical style with the gravitas of age and the force of experience.” The Guardian, Sanjoy Roy

Adult Female Dancer is a 30-minute autobiographical work, exploring the life of choreographer Rosie Kay.

With seven pieces of text, looking at her relationship with dance, her highlights and lowlights, the injuries, the birth of her son and her sex, this is a beautiful, honest, passionate and fearless work.

The music choices range from Morricone to Patti Smith. The work has moments of sadness and contemplation but ends in a burst of punk style victory.

★★★★ “Rosie Kay had the stage presence of a 40-strong corps de ballet”
“how wonderful to find this empowering testament to the female body given the status it deserves” The Scotsman, Kelly Apter

★★★★ “it’s been a long time since I’ve seen a piece of dance theatre quite so moving and thought-provoking” DanceTabs, Bruce Marriot

★★★★ “In yet further proof of her courage as a performer, Kay seems to have left no stone unturned in this stoic confessional.” BachTrack, Graham Watts
